As a business we have been very mindful of the impacts the last 2 years have had on the mental health and fatigue levels of our employees with lockdowns, border closures, being away from family or being alone.  It was therefore important for us to focus on employee wellbeing, as well as assist with retaining and attracting talent in a very tight labour market.

Our employees were off sick for prolonged periods because they couldn’t afford, or it wasn’t easy to access the health service they required (e.g. doctor or physiotherapist) because they would rather spend money on their families than themselves, or they were a migrant who couldn’t afford the inflated cost to see a doctor.

Whilst looking at our benefit offerings, we took an Employee Centred Design approach where we asked our employees what they wanted as a benefit, to ensure we designed solutions “with” our employees not “for” them.  Investing in their health came through strongly.

We recognised pay packets don’t go that far with inflated costs at every turn, so being able to invest in our employees’ health and wellbeing by ensuring they can access the care they need, when they need it, without having to worry about finding money to see a health provider.  Not to mention helping employees’ return to work sooner, will be key for us.

HealthNow allows us to provide our employees with a benefit they want, with the flexibility to use it with ease, in a way that works for them.  An additional bonus has been no significant upfront investment from the business (important in current times) and instead is driven purely by employee usage as and when they need it – essentially providing a win/win for both!
